Even Google is confused when you search for "Indian Native"

Who is an Indian and Who are Indians?

There are many stories about naming India...

Some people think it started with the Sindhu river. Persians people living there Hindu (probably because they pronounced S as H). This in turn gave the term Indus (for the river) and then India (for the location).

The name India is derived from Indus, which originates from the Old Persian word Hinduš. The latter term stems from the Sanskrit word Sindhu, which was the historical local appellation for the Indus River.[16] The ancient Greeks referred to the Indians as Indoi (Ινδοί), which translates as "the people of the Indus".[17] The geographical term Bharat (pronounced [ˈbʱaːrət̪] ( listen)), which is recognised by the Constitution of India as an official name for the country, is used by many Indian languages in its variations.[18] The eponym of Bharat is Bharata, a theological figure that Hindu scriptures describe as a legendary emperor of ancient India. Hindustan ([ɦɪnd̪ʊˈst̪aːn] ( listen)) was originally a Persian word that meant "Land of the Hindus"; prior to 1947, it referred to a region that encompassed northern India and Pakistan.

Application of the term "Indian" originated with Christopher Columbus, who thought that he had arrived in the East Indies, while seeking Asia.[27][28][29][30][31][32] Later, the Americas came to be known as the "West Indies," a name still used today to refer to the Caribbean. The use of the names "Indies" and "Indian" has served to imply some kind of racial or cultural unity for the aboriginal peoples of the Americas. Once created, the unified "Indian" was codified in law, religion, and politics. The unitary idea of "Indians" was not originally shared by indigenous peoples, but over the last two centuries many have embraced the identity. The term "Indian" does not include the Aleuts, Inuit, or Yupik peoples, but despite this they are still part of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas.

Bharata[1][2] was a legendary emperor of India, and is referred to in Hindu and Jain theology. He was son of King Dushyanta of Hastinapura and Queen Śakuntalā and thus a descendant of the Lunar Dynasty of the Kshatriya Varna. Bharata had conquered all of Greater India, uniting it into a single political entity which was named after him as "Bhāratavarṣa."

Bharat Empire included the whole territory of the Indian subcontinent, including parts of present day Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia,[3] Turkmenistan, North-west Tibet, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Bhārat (along with India) is the official English name of Republic of India and Bhārata Gaṇarājyam is the official Sanskrit name of the country, while Bhārat Ganarājya is the official Hindi name.

'Bharat' it comes from mythology Mahabharata. Yeah, but when white people, were searching for our country madly as they heard we were very rich, they reached Canada thinking this is what they were looking for but actually it was not so they captured this place from naive and innocent natives here, snatched and killed many. White people then named them Red Indians...they are actually native Indians...and also known as aborginals now...they own Canada but they are like lower castes in our Bharat..have reserve seats and are considered backward. Thereafter some white ppl kept looking for real India, they began their journey for....at first place. Then they reached Bharat and called our nation India...so it is because of Indus river that we were named India but actually white people named us India even before seeing us. They looted us and are still looting us. We were and always are foolish as we're simple people but also not united. Alas! we are still losing our real treasure now which is our culture and traditions - our last treasure...then we will have no religion, no culture and no nation...we are finished. No Hindus. No Hindustan or Bharat. India with Christians and Muslims. Hindus would be like Red Indians in Canada. In future generations, someone will ask real natives, ie., Hindus-from which country are you? We will be known as aboriginals one day!

India is the name given to our country by white people. We never called our country as India. We always used the term Hindustan as there were more Hindus initially and so Pakistan was made. Bharat was term for sure given because of Raja Dushyant and Shakuntala's son Bharat.
